New job in DC

So, it has been awhile since I wrote in my blog. I have been crazy busy applying for jobs, and I finally landed a job in Alexandria, VA. I am really excited about it. I have been working there for one month, and everyone is really nice! My job entails writing press releases, pitching the association to the media, developing media plans, and any other duties that come develop.

I am currently looking for an apartment, especially in old town, so I can walk to work. I may have found a location, but I am going to wait and see if I can get the place. Keep your fingers crossed. I have really enjoyed living in Alexandria so far, and I have met tons of people. I have been networking with alumni from different schools, and everyone is really nice. I have even met some USC alumni that have been really helpful in providing advice in gaining a job in the area. Needless to say, without their advice and support, I would have given up awhile ago.

One of the things I did was tap into the alumni network. Everyone has been wonderful! I recommend others contacting their alumni and getting in touch to see if they can advise them on how to land a job in the place they want to live. Alumni will help others if you show persistence and do your research ahead of time.

That is all for now! Have a great night! Go Tigers! Go Gamecocks!
