Time for a quick update

For the past three weeks, my life has been a bit crazy! We had a national policy seminar at the beginning of March, which went really well! We had 400 members advocating about CTE on Capitol Hill, and all of our sessions were successful! I saw some of my favorite members from SC, Missouri and Ohio! Plus, I got to eat dinner with my Missouri peeps at Charter House, which I have to say was fantastic! Charter House's service was terrific, and they had menus with Missouri's Executive Director's name and we got to keep it as a souvenir!

This past Friday I went to the Newseum, and I have to say that it was worth the admission price. My friend Aleia and I toured the place, and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it! They had a display of old newspapers from as early as 1400's through today, and it was interesting to see how newspapers and magazines have changed over the years. Papers from the late 1800's print size was extremely small and tried to fit the entire story on the front page.

The museum showcased the first journalism program with photos from my alma mater Missouri! At that moment, I was very proud to be a Tiger! They had a display about fake news programs and showed different segments from "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report." They are working on building an Elvis display, which I'm definitely going back to see! As I walked through the 9/11 section, I started to think back about where I was at that moment. I remember working at my dad's business and watching it unfold on TV. I immediately called my dad to let him know what was happening. He was out of town visiting his sister in Savannah. One of my best friends was suppose to fly back to NYC that day, but she wasn't able to fly out of Columbia.

While I was heading downtown on Friday, I made a commitment to visit two new places, restaurants, or parks each month for the rest of the year. I've lived in DC for over three years, and there are so many places I need to visit. So, I'm trying to figure out where to go next. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Starting tomorrow is March Madness, and I'm looking forward to watching the games! Friday afternoon is MU vs. Clemson, and I'm pulling for my Tigers! MIZ-ZOU!! In one of my brackets, I have Missouri losing in the second round, but in the other one, I have them beating West Virginia. I know this is wishful thinking, but a girl can dream, right? Happy St. Patty's Day!
